One Room Challenge: Fresh Take on a DIY-ers Dream Workspace

Super Exciting…our blog has been up and going now for six months, so we thought it was a perfect time to kick things to the next level or at least try! 😉 We are so excited to try something new and have joined the One Room Challenge (ORC) as guest participants for the first time.

For the Challenge, we have six weeks to completely transform a space. Every Thursday for the following six weeks we will share the progress we have made and all the trials we have had to over come to finish a space in a 6 week period. Deciding on which space was the biggest debate; bathroom, laundry room, outdoor living space…so many options!

In the end I have decided to transform my 5th bedroom from a crazy hoarders closet into a magical workspace. Like always, I will be doing all the DIY’s myself. I have big plans for this little space…accent wall with DIY Peg Boards, wallpaper, new flooring, new light fixture, built-in desk, tons of storage and lots and lots of painting. We hope you following along on instagram @eyeinthedetail. Now wish us luck and let’s bang this room out!!

Here is a picture of the room when I moved in.

Here is what it has turned into over the last year. Super scary…I know! I really, really don’t even like having this picture as evidence to how crazy I let things get, but I figure it can only get better from here.

Lately, I have been decorating and staging other peoples’ houses and this has become my drop space for any and everything. It also is used as a work space for all my DIY projects and of course where I hide all my treasures from my hubby. We’ll keep that bit of info just between us though! 😉

Having a 5th bedroom is absolutely a dream and something I have always wanted in a home, an extra space just for me to work on all my projects without having to worry about disrupting everyone else’s space. As you can see this room has not reached it’s maximum potential and really has turned into a storage space. Seriously, I should know better after living in Germany and Hawaii with limited space. I really should be taking full advantage of all this room has to offer…and after this challenge that is what I intend to do!!

For this space I want it to be highly functional, feminine, a place where creative thrives, but also to flow seamlessly with the design elements of the rest of my home.

Here’s my inspiration for the space. Hope you follow along for the adventure, because that’s exactly what it will be. 6 weeks to transform a whole room, while still continuing normal life won’t be easy, but I am so ready for the challenge. So lets get started and make this space into every DIYers dream!!!

Be sure to follow along with all the featured designers and guest participants too at One Room Challenge (ORC), We are looking forward to all the inspiration!
