Bringing Christmas Magic into 2019

Well, it is a wrap on Christmas 2018. Hope you all had a HAPPY, HEALTHY, and FUN Christmas!!  It seems to fly by faster and faster each year. All that planning, decorating, and cooking is now a distant memory and it is time to think of what the New Year will bring. It is always exciting to look into the next year and think about your hopes and wishes for the New Year…almost like a new beginning!

There is an ongoing debate as to when to take down your Christmas decorations. A lot of people like to leave up Christmas decorations well into the new year, while some like to take it down immediately. I personally really love the feeling when all the decorations get put away and the house feels back to normal again, so my decor doesn’t usually last too long into the new year. Leaving up some winter decor is a good mix of the two options and keeps the house feeling a little festive!

If you are hosting a New Year’s party you may have to switch out that decor for something a little different. We have listed a few ideas to transition into the New Year while still keeping a little bit of Christmas in the house, too.

New Years Tree…

One fun idea is to switch up your Christmas tree into a New Year’s tree with a few fun additions. Adding a 2019 hat, clocks, signs, ornaments with New Year’s resolutions is a fun way to keep both holidays spirits alive.

Resolution Scroll…

This one is super easy to make by using a little bit of craft paper and a sharpie. Let your guests or even just your family write down their resolutions or hopes for the coming year. Then you will have a record of the goals…this could be good or not so good 😉 You can also, add a quote or resolution on your scroll to bring it into the New Year. This is also simple, just a bit of craft paper and stencil or vinyl and a little help from your cricut.

Hopes in a Jar…

All this takes is a jar and some scrap paper. Just have your guests or your family write down their goals or wishes for the New Year and fold them up and into the jar they go. You can read them on New Year’s Day or even wait until next year to see if they were accomplished.

Memories in a Jar…

This is similar to the jar idea above except instead of hopes and wishes, add memories of the past year. Then on New Year’s Day read them around the table and see what a great year your family had. This may even open up discussions on what memories you would like to make in the year to come.

Cricut Projects…

If you are hosting a party or going to a party, I should also mention how many awesome projects you can make using the cricut. Last year, I made my husband and I personalized shirts for a party we were going to. Another fun project would be a photo booth, with lots of props for your guests. The possibilities are endless!!

Happy New Year…See you in 2019!
